Bombo Radyo's FM network group, popularly known as Star FM, is equally as strong as its sister AM network group. Its flagship station based in Manila, even with the existence of a substantial number of FM stations operating and stiff competition from both ABS-CBN's and GMA Network's own networks, is the number one radio station in Metro Manila. The network's strongest market segment is with the provincial or rural people currently residing in Manila helped by its strong brand name in the provinces.

It was August 3, 1993 when Bombo Radyo Philippines, the Number One Radio Network in the country, introduced to the people of Davao City their FM wing known only as DXFX 96.3. During those times, each FM station only caters a single music genre.
In mid-90’s, the Network decided to reformat their FM wing to cater to all walks of life and musical preference. Quarter Mix program of mellow and dance hits, all mellow program, all rock program and special Sunday programming were introduced after naming all their FM station as Star FM. This format became the template of FM programming after other networks and stations followed it.
Thus, Star FM Davao was born that immediately rose to the top of the surveys and hailed as over-all number one radio station. Star FM has become part of each Davaoeno’s day to day life.
After more than two decades of entertaining and informing the people of Davao City and its’ neighboring cities and municipalities, the men and women of Star FM Davao remains steadfast of their main goal to continue bringing smile to their lips and feeding them with fresh and timely news and information.
